Independence Day Celebrations at North Star Public School, Palampur

Our Independence Day celebrations stand as a proud testimony to our commitment to nurturing not just academically excellent students, but also deeply patriotic, responsible citizens of India.

On the occasion of India's Independence Day (15th August), the entire North Star family — students, teachers, parents and staff — gathers on our vibrant campus in Upper Dattal, Palampur to celebrate the freedom and sovereignty of our great nation. The event is meticulously planned and joyfully executed, making it one of the most memorable days in the school calendar.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The highlight of our Independence Day celebrations is the formal flag hoisting ceremony. The Director of North Star Public School, Mr. Suresh Jamwal, or a distinguished guest of honour hoists the national tricolour amidst the singing of the National Anthem. The fluttering of the Indian flag against the backdrop of the majestic Dhauladhar ranges creates a moment of profound pride and unity for every person present on campus. Students stand at attention, their hearts filled with gratitude for the brave freedom fighters who secured our independence.

Cultural Programme & Patriotic Performances

Following the flag hoisting, our talented students present a vibrant cultural programme that brings the spirit of Independence Day to life. The programme features:

• Patriotic songs and group singing — rousing renditions of beloved national and patriotic songs that stir the soul and unite the community
• Skit and drama performances — powerful theatrical presentations depicting the struggle for independence and the sacrifices of our freedom fighters
• Dance performances — classical and folk dances celebrating India's rich cultural heritage from across the states
• Poetry recitation — students recite inspirational patriotic verses in Hindi and English, honouring the vision of our founding fathers
• Speeches and debates — articulate students speak on themes of national pride, unity in diversity and India's remarkable journey since 1947
• March past and parade — our NCC and student contingents perform a disciplined march past, symbolising order, dedication and national service

The outstanding board results of our students are also acknowledged and celebrated on this special occasion.

No Independence Day at North Star is complete without the joyful distribution of sweets and refreshments! After the formal ceremony and cultural programme, students and staff come together to share sweets and celebrate as one big school family.
